10 Healthy Homemade Drinks with Medicinal Properties That Will Protect Your Nervous System

Must Read

The nervous system plays an important role in the life of humans and most times when you hear people say that without a healthy nervous system it’s difficult to lead a comfortable life, they’re not messing around.

As such, we must protect our nervous system to avoid a nervous breakdown by doing things that boost the strength of the nervous system. One way is by eating a lot of essential vitamins and antioxidants contained in plant-based foods.

The healing power of fruits, vegetables, and other plant-based foods is well known but eating them whole is not always easy. However, turning them into cold soups, juices or smoothies usually makes them easier to consume. Additionally, liquids contain less insoluble fiber compared to whole foods, which contributes to the quick absorption of vitamins and antioxidants.

Each juice or smoothie in this article is the right combination of fruits, vegetables, and seeds as presented by Dr. George D. Pamplona-Roger, doctor of medicine and surgery, University of Granada, Spain. The healing power of these ingredients is mutually strengthened for their use against nervous system diseases.

While there are certainly several other combinations of ingredients; some of those indicated here can be replaced with others to discover new flavors and wholesome properties which are appropriate for restoring the health of the nervous system.

So, here are 10 healthy drinks and the role they play in protecting the nervous system which should be complemented or supplemented by a healthy and balanced diet;

1 – Apple Juice

As the English saying goes: “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” But in light of recent research, we can just as well say: “an apple a day keeps Alzheimer’s away.”

Some studies reveal how the usual consumption of Apple juice stops the cognitive decline (loss of intellectual faculties) associated with aging. Moreover, apple juice has been discovered as an effective neuroprotector, which maintains the levels of acetylcholine and other neurotransmitters in the brain and reduces neuronal degeneration responsible for Alzheimer’s disease.

Reports from studies conducted at the University of Massachusetts USA with patients suffering from Alzheimer’s showed that those who consumed two glasses of approximately 120ml per day of Apple Juice for one month improved their behavior and mood.

Apple juice not only improves the brain function of those already suffering from it, but it also reduces the risk of suffering Alzheimer’s disease as one glass alone supplies 119% of the number of antioxidants recommended daily.

More so, apple juice is cancer-preventive and it’s also beneficial to the heart and the intestines.

It’s important to note that natural apple juice is best for consumption compared to commercially processed apple juice because it contains an abundant soluble fiber (pectin) and antioxidant polyphenols which are good for improving brain function
