Covid-19: Lagos State Reopens Worship Centres from June 19

The Lagos State Government has announced that places of worship will be opened as from June 19, 2020.

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the announcement on Thursday, June 4, 2020 during the Lagos state government briefing on Covid-19.

He mentioned that mosques will be reopened from June 19, while churches will be reopened from June 21.

“We would be allowing all Christian worship places to open from the 21st of June with 40 percent capacity.” Governor Sanwo-olu said. “Religious houses are not allowed to accommodate more than 500 members in each service” he said.

He stated that only regular Sunday services will be held and other weekly activities remain suspended.

He advised that those below 15 years and above 60 years be discouraged from going to worship centres.
