Nigerian Reggae Music Icon Dies

Nigerian Reggae musician and entertainer, Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly known as Majek Fashek, also known as The Rainmaker is dead.

Fashek born in Benin City, Edo state in 1963 died at the age of 57 in New York City after a prolonged illness.

The knowledge of his death was made known by his manager, Uzoma Omenka on Tuesday, June 2nd, in a video uploaded on the late musician’s official Instagram account.

Omenka, who said he has been receiving pressure calls regarding the death of the musician, said “Today been having pressure calls, well it is true that the Africa No 1 legendary icon has gone to be with the LORD his Maker. Let’s celebrate him, his achievements and his family, whatever decisions made by his immediate family will be notified.”

He was best known for the multiple award winning hit, ‘send down the rain’.

He had previously been confirmed critically ill and hospitalized at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the UK in November 2019.
